Where are you from?

I´m from a small city called Derby in the centre of England.

How long have you been in Mexico?

I first came to Mexico four years ago when I spent a few months in Zacatecas. However, I have been formally living in Mexico for two years now, in Queretaro.

How long have you been teaching English?

I have been officially teaching English for two years, although I did have some previous experience teaching English when I was living in Zacatecas.

How long have you been teaching at United English?

I started with United English in September of 2019.

Have you taught anywhere else other than UE?

Yes, I have taught at the Universad Autonoma de Zacatecas as well as teaching both primary school and secondary school children at a private school in Querétaro.

What do you like about teaching at UE?

I like teaching at United English because there is a fantastic positive energy amongst both staff and students alike which creates a great teaching and learning environment. I love how organised the system is as I feel that it enables the teacher to concentrate on delivering effective and enjoyable classes. I feel supported and encouraged every day by my colleagues and valued by my students.

What advice can you offer to language learners?

My advice would be to surround yourself with like minded people who also have a passion to learn languages. Listen to music in other languages and try to sing along with the lyrics. Take advantage of social networking sites and look for international groups and exchange communities in your local area in order to meet new people from around the world and develop your communication skills whilst making friends at the same time. Don´t be afraid to make mistakes! it´s the most effective way of consolidating your learning.
