Where are you from?

I’m from a town in England that is near to Reading, England.

How long have you been in Mexico?

I have been in Mexico about a year and a half total. I was here one year in 2016-2017 as part of my degree in Modern Languages, and then I returned to teach in Toluca in August 2018. I arrived in Querétaro this February.

How long have you been teaching English?

I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language for about six months. However, I also previously worked for around three years tutoring English to children who are English native speakers in a private tuition centre in the UK.

How long have you been with UE?

I have been with UE for around one month.

Have you taught anywhere else?

Yes, I taught English at a university in Toluca, Mexico.

What do you like about teaching at United English?

I love the diversity within the school. On a daily basis, I teach such a variety of students who come from different cities and backgrounds. I have also learnt about many different job roles that I didn’t know existed from speaking to my students. So, even as the teacher, I like that I can also learn from my students. The students here are so motivated and interesting! For the same reason, I like the fact that the teachers at the school come from a variety of teaching and personal backgrounds which gives me the opportunity to learn from them. Finally, United English is an extremely organised and professional school with clear teaching materials, so this makes my life a lot easier as a teacher.

What advice can you offer to language learners?

Language learning doesn’t stop and start in the classroom. You are lucky, there is a huge variety of films, TV series, music, YouTube videos, books, magazines and news available in English. Make the most of it. Even more importantly, don’t bother trying to watch a drama in English if you find dramas boring. Find something that interests you and use that to practice your English because that way you will enjoy it too. Also, make the most of applications and websites for online language learning as these are so useful.
