A brief introduction to our teacher, Lisa Sadler. She explains a little about herself and what she likes about teaching English.
Where are you from?
The south coast of England – Portsmouth.
How long have you been in Mexico?
Nearly 3 years; 6 weeks in Mexico City and the rest of the time in Queretaro.
How long have you been teaching English?
Again, nearly 3 years.
How long have you been with UE?
It will be 3 years in May.
Have you taught anywhere else?
Yes, each summer I teach on an English for Academic Purposes course for students preparing to take a Masters course in the UK. In 2017, I taught in Culiacan for Durham University and last summer, at Cardiff University in Wales.
What do you like about teaching at United English?
The students both in the school and in the companies where I teach are fantastic. They are motivated, engaged in the class but make jokes and we have a lot of fun together. My colleagues in the school are also great to work with and I've learnt a lot about teaching, the English (and Spanish) language and Mexico during my time here.
What advice can you offer to language learners?
Take 10 minutes every day to do something in English. Listen to music, revise vocabulary from class, watch a short video in English, study using the UE portal. Learning is not just about formal classes. It’s about engaging with the language – living and breathing it. And always remember – you can do it. It will take time and everybody learns at a different speed – so don't compare yourself to other learners and never give up!
