For Individuals

Business English is our business. English courses for professionals.

Our course

Every student in United English takes four hours of classes per week. These four classes are divided up into two business English classes, one grammar class and one vocabulary, conversation and listening comprehension class.

In the two business English classes you will see topics that are directly applicable to working life, topics like English for telephone conversations, English for emails, describing trends and talking about problems in the workplace. Then, in the grammar and conversation classes you will see more general English topics, like talking about technology, travel and various social issues. This means that with our program you will be able to communicate no matter what situation you find yourself in.

Flexible schedule

At United English we understand that sometimes it can be hard to fit English classes into your daily schedule, on top of work, family and your other commitments. In order to make things as easy for you as possible, we operate a flexible schedule, meaning that you can program your four hours each week depending on your availability, and your schedule can change from one week to the other.

Here at the school, we have classes from 7 am to 12 pm, and again from 4 pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday (except on Fridays when we close at 7 pm). Can’t come during the week? No problem, you can program your four hours of class on Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. Each time you come to class you will program your next class, so you can adjust your schedule to work around your other activities.

Online platform

At United English, we operate a system called Blended Learning. This system is similar to that used in many universities and colleges around the world. In the Blended Learning system, part of the course is done in class, and the other part of the course is done online through an e-learning platform.

All students of United English have access to our exclusive e-learning platform. This ensures that, wherever you are, you have access to the materials you need to improve your language skills and to prepare for your next class.

Each unit that students see in class has a corresponding unit online. The idea is that students use the online part of the course to prepare themselves for the face-to-face classes. Our online component perfectly complements the material that we work with in-class, so students can practice the vocabulary before class, enabling them to participate much more actively in the face-to-face classes. Doing this also allows us to focus on abilities like speaking and writing in the face-to-face classes, helping our students achieve fluency even faster.

Our levels

Whatever your level of English - we have a class for you!

All our new students take a placement test so that we can decide which of our 6 levels would be most appropriate for them. Each level is based on the CEFR (Common European Framework) and corresponds to levels of well-known qualifications such as TOEFL and TOEIC - see the image on the right for more details.

Each of our 6 levels is based on classifications taken from the Common European Framework (CEFR) and takes 4 months to complete. This means that a student starting at the lowest level can graduate from our highest level (CEFR level C1) in just 2 years. This level is equivalent to 851 points or more in TOEIC, IELTS Band 7, an A in the FCE or 120 in the TOEFL.

At the end of each level, students take an exam testing the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) to assess if they are ready to advance to the next level.

Small groups

We want all of our students to have as much chance to speak as possible in each class and to receive help and advice for their specific needs. For this reason, we try to keep groups small.

Group size can vary depending on the time at which you program your classes. An average group at United English has 6 students, allowing our teachers to attend to your questions and for you to speak more.

Due to our flexible schedule, there are no fixed groups. This keeps classes dynamic and interesting.
